First Male Ejaculation

I mentioned in class this week that I remember reading a piece in an undergraduate class, lamenting the fact that boys' first ejaculation isn't celebrated as a rite of passage. The work is called "Hands Off!: The Taboo Surrounding Males' First Ejaculation" and it's written by Loren Frankel. I couldn't find it anywhere online, so I'll bring my book with me next week in case anyone wants to make copies.

"Wiggling It Around in Excrement"

This is also a great companion piece for "The History of Sexuality." What kinds of (homo)sexual pleasures is New Hampshire representative Nancy Elliot NOT engaging in when she describes anal sex under the aegis of "scientific" nomenclature?

Pasolini + Foucault

Pasolini's "Salo - 120 Days of Sodom" is a great filmic illustration for this week's reading, especially the issues of speaking (and listening) of sex in order to administer/augment/encode/master it.

Sister George

Has anybody been able to find the movie for this week? How/where? (I just tried the ONE and they didn't have it, but I was the only one who'd been by.)

George Chauncey & Proposition 8

As mentioned in class, George Chauncey recently testified against prop 8. I've been reading the transcripts and thought I'd share, as it's a great supplement to the reading. A group in Hollywood is currently working on re-enacting the whole trial and posting it in segments on youtube, so I'll add a link to that when it's ready.

Other Movies

Thanks, Tal!

FYI, for later in the semester:

The Times of Harvey Milk is available on hulu: http://www.hulu.com/watch/49577/the-times-of-harvey-milk

Icefilms.info, a technically-legal favorite site of mine, also has the following:

Tea and Sympathy

I just found what I believe to be the entirety of "Tea and Symptahy" on youtube, as a playlist. While the quality isn't fantastic and there are breaks throughout, it may still be easier (or cheaper) than finding it elsewhere or some folks, so I thought I'd share. Go here:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4824D8CEA24C101F

and click on "Play all videos" and it should take you through the whole film.

Bisexual Option

I found a cheaper copy of Fritz Klein's book (second edition, paperback). It's $31.85 on Amazon. The ISBN is 1-56023-033-9.

Uploading PDF files onto Blogger

You have to upload the PDF onto a server and post the link. I created an account for us at the sever www.Scribd.com login: lgbtseminar password: hawkins email: jrhawkin@usc.edu If it's too much work you can send it to me and I'll post it or you can just email it to everyone I suppose. But it's actually very simple (I know everyone says that about complicated things, but in this case it's true).

Warner/Berlant text

Is there a way to attach a PDF here that I somehow missed? I wanted to post a text for you all but can't seem to figure it out.... Anyone know?
